Position: Biology Teacher (IBDP, IGCSE & Cambridge Secondary)

Reports To: Head of Science / Head of Secondary

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Biology Teacher to join our secondary school faculty. The ideal candidate will have expertise in delivering IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), IGCSE, and Cambridge Secondary Biology curricula, inspiring students through engaging and inquiry-based teaching methodologies. The teacher will be responsible for fostering a love for biological sciences while equipping students with the knowledge and skills required for academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching & Learning: Deliver high-quality Biology lessons aligned with IBDP, IGCSE, and Cambridge Secondary frameworks.
  • Curriculum Development: Plan, prepare, and review schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment strategies to ensure a comprehensive and stimulating curriculum.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Design and administer formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback, and support students in achieving their academic goals.
  • Laboratory Work & Practical Investigations: Organize and supervise laboratory experiments, ensuring students develop scientific inquiry skills and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
  • Differentiation & Inclusion: Adapt teaching methods to cater to diverse learning needs and ensure an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Pastoral & Academic Support: Act as a mentor, providing academic guidance and support to students, including university application advice where necessary.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues in the Science Department to ensure consistency and excellence in teaching across all levels.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional learning and contribute to the development of best teaching practices.
  • Co-Curricular Activities: Participate in school events, science fairs, extracurricular clubs, and field trips to enhance student learning beyond the classroom.
  • Parental Engagement: Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology or a related field.
  • recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience teaching IBDP, IGCSE, and Cambridge Secondary Biology.
  • Strong knowledge of IB Biology Internal Assessment (IA), Extended Essays (EE), and TOK connections.
  • Experience in preparing students for IGCSE and IBDP examinations with proven results.
  • Experience in laboratory work, including practicals, experiments, and field studies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to integrate technology into teaching and use digital resources effectively.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience in international school settings.
  • Familiarity with Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint Biology.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students through innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Passion for Biology and a commitment to fostering scientific curiosity.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach to working in a dynamic school environment.
